Hello friends,
My name is Punkaj. I am 58 years old, and I own a Royal Enfield Meteor 350.

Most people my age are planning retirement holidays or morning walks.
I am planning the next 500 km solo ride.
There is only one person in my life who gets genuinely scared every time I start the bike… my wife of 53 years.
She has never sat on any motorcycle. Not once.
Not on the old Activa, not on the Pulsar I owned in the 90s, and definitely not on the Meteor.
Whenever I put on my riding jacket, her first sentence is always the same:
“How many more days are you planning to risk your life?”
The Pre-Ride Drama (Same Script, Every Single Time)
- Wife: “Where are you going this time?”
Me: “Just 300–400 km, I’ll be back by evening.”
Wife: “Liar. You always come home after midnight.” - Wife: “What if you run out of petrol in the middle of nowhere?”
Me: “Tank is full.”
Wife: “What if your phone dies?”
Me: “Power bank is packed.” - Wife (voice cracking): “And if something happens to you…?”
Me (smiling): “Then you’ll finally get peace and quiet at home.”
Wife: “Shameless man!” 😂
Then she stands at the window and watches until I disappear around the corner.
Once I’m on the Road…
The moment the engine settles into its thump at 70 km/h, every worry disappears.
Just the wind, the warm sun, a roadside chai, and complete silence in my head.
Sometimes I wonder:
She is scared only because she loves me too much.
And I ride because… that’s when I feel most alive.
The Funniest (and Most Touching) Moment So Far
I once returned after a 9-day ride to Spiti Valley.
When I opened the door, my wife was crying.
I asked, “What happened?”
She said, “The house feels so empty without you…
but next time, don’t ever stop yourself from going. If you have to ride, just ride.”
That day I understood everything.
Are You Living the Same Story?
- Are you 50+ and still crazy about motorcycles?
- Does your family say “It’s time to stop”?
- Does your wife worry sick but never actually stops you?
If yes, drop a comment below.
Let me know I’m not riding alone.

Ride safe, ride long… and always come home to the ones who wait with fear in their hearts but love in their eyes. 🏍️❤️
