Day 1: Delhi to Kochi â Touchdown in Godâs Own Country
We began our journey on 14th September with a flight from Delhi to Kochi, the starting point of A Soulful Journey from Delhi to Kerala, Munnar, Thekkady & Alleppey. The moment we landed, the air felt differentâlush, fragrant, and alive. Kochi welcomed us with swaying palms, tropical greenery, and a coastal breeze that seemed to whisper, âRelax, youâre in Kerala now.â After the rush of Delhi, the calm rhythm of this historic port city felt instantly soothing.
Though brief, our time in Kochi was a sensory teaser: glimpses of colonial architecture, the scent of spices in the air, and the anticipation of the road ahead. Walking through the old quarters, we felt the cityâs unique blend of Portuguese, Dutch, and local Kerala influences. The sight of Chinese fishing nets against the sunset, colorful streets of Fort Kochi, and old heritage buildings gave the journey a beautiful cultural beginning.
As the first chapter of A Soulful Journey from Delhi to Kochi, Munnar, Thekkady & Alleppey, Kochi offered much more than a transit stopâit set the tone for everything that followed. Local cafĂŠs serving Kerala flavors, the aroma of cardamom and pepper in spice markets, and the slow coastal vibe made us pause and absorb the spirit of the place. Even a short stay here felt rich with stories.
There was also a quiet excitement building within us, knowing the misty hills of Munnar, wildlife-rich forests of Thekkady, and serene backwaters of Alleppey were waiting ahead. Every journey has a beginning that stays in memory, and for us, Kochi was exactly thatâwarm, welcoming, and soulful. It was not just an arrival point, but the perfect gateway into Keralaâs landscapes, culture, and unforgettable experiences that were about to unfold soulful.
